The idea of MOSS & SPY began when Lia Tsimos, as a young Australian designer, studied fashion design in Paris and was guided by the unmistakeable style and elegance of leading European designers. She went on to design for several Australia’s contemporary womenswear brands in Melbourne and Sydney before taking a position in London designing premium, ready-to-wear leather collections for international markets.
Inspired by the classic, luxury aesthetic of global haute couture and emerging contemporary influences on fashion, each seasonal collection begins with Lia’s hand sketched outlines. These are formed into perfectly fitting patterns that become the unique designs which are produced in limited numbers – adding to the exclusivity of wearing MOSS & SPY.
MOSS & SPY’s team of Australian dressmakers use traditional techniques to meticulously hand-craft each piece to the highest standards of quality and fit. Exclusive fabrics and embellishments are personally chosen by Lia at international fabric fairs or custom-designed and commissioned from leading global mills, while international artisans provide the intricate beading and embroidery in some of the more intricately patterned evening wear.
The result is a fusion of effortless European elegance with an authentic and innovative Australian perspective - day and evening wear with a truly international appeal for women who value the luxury of contemporary design that reflects their confident and feminine identity.
